i am a server admin on a new network and i need help with oper comands like to force someone to join a channel and force modes etc..

but i would normaly use /sajoin /samode Sad but they are disabled and to op my self i have to use /op user and to change modes /modes #channel -s

is there another way

the server uses unreal ircd also when i try and use /sajoin or /samode it says "Permission Denied- You do not have the correct IRC operator privileges"

and i am a server admin lol

You need the "Services Admin"(the flag is services-admin if I remember correctly) flag to be able to use the /sa commands.

services admin > server admin (as far as Unreal is concerned)
codemastr would be able to explain the best I think, depending on services you might be able to do an equivalent of /sajoin//sapart, /mode is covered by oper_override, which most networks will have set for higher ranking opers at least, it just shows up as "nick sets mode: +blah *!*@data.searchirc.org 1 nick nick" instead of "irc.searchirc.org sets mode: +...", and if you're that worried, again, your services might have a similar function. otherwise, either try and get an upgrade to services-admin, or get over it Wink

MOVIEBOT, it seems that this is currently not working because you either forgot to oper, or your oper lines aren't set up right, and this is why it gives the message 'permission denied, you do not have the correct irc opertor priveklages'

these commands may help when you successfully oper (it should tell you when you do):
/samode [channel] <modes> [nick] forcefully change user/channel modes
/sapart <nick> <channel> forcefully part a user from a channel
/sajoin <nick> <channel> forcefully join a user to a channel
/sethost <host> change your hostmask
/setident <ident> change your ident
/chghost <nick> <host> change the hostmask of another user
/chgident <nick <ident> change the ident of another user
/chgname <nick> <name> change the realname of another user
/connect [leaf[ [port] <hub> reconnect the server after splits
/opermotd view the oper MOTD (oper.motd)
/kline <user@host> ban a user from the current server
/gline <user@host> ban a user from the entire network
/sdesc <description> change the description of the current server (shown in /whois)

also, what does the server say when you try to oper? does it let you or does it say 'no o-lines for your host' or even 'incorrect password'?

just looked through that again... have you given yourself the can_override flag in your oper lines. also, have you remebered to end each line with a semicolon (;) ? if you need some more help, i can visit your server and work through it with you :)

you just need to uncompile whatever junk ircd you are running. Compile you some unreal, and link to housemartin.org

we will show you the ropes, and with our #hippy channel
you got a good chance at getting laid.

Clearly since this problem was solved in 2004 and the year is now 2006 so im pretty certain he has gained both experiance and skills in those 2 years to a point at which he wont need a mentor.

Yup, he's a competent IRC operator now. He's learnt quite a bit in the past two years.
