I would have to say the qualities of a good network would be:

1. Good dedicated staff.
2. Friendly users.
3. Good server uptime.

All 3 of those qualities are very important and very well respected. Nobody will enjoy a network without those 3 qualities. IRC is a place to have fun. Smile

Well thats fine, but on my network the qualities eem tobe the floowing:

1 - Intolerance to anyone under the age of 14, or anyone over the age of 14 who acts like a kiddie.
2 - Intolerance to others who do not appreciate our views on operating systems and languages.
3 - One requirement is that you have no social life whatsoever outside of IRC.
4 - You MUST post what song your are listenign to on Winamp CONSTANTLY!

But we do always welcome people who share in our beliefs Smile

People don't want to be on a network that has:

* Opers who constantly abuse
* Disputes are always settled in the biggest room
* People glined, instead of channel banned or /ignored.. This is my biggest pet peeve. 99% of the time channel bans work, and it doesn't scare people away.
* No innovation, nothing new...

Sounds like Bigpond ROFLMAO! That's exactly how they do it. Wink

I've chatted to a lot of IRC'ers in this age bracket, and yes more often than not they should be banned from computing, but those that buck that trend do usually have something insightful to see - and everyone deserves to voice their opinion

You have an opinion, I have an opinion - as does everybody else... are you opressing free thinking or something?
