Just a thought, to help save bandwidth on search irc, but wouldn't it be possible to have a network place there own bot's if they want to be listed, I mean if they are listed on your engine anyways they had to ask to be listed so if they like the feature shouldn't they place a there own bot..
Just a thought... may be a bad idea.. |

| Not a bad idea, however some NetAdmins (esp. some unscrupulous ones) would prefer to use their own bot to falsify the data, bumping up their ranking. At least the scrawl bots are unbiased, and the data is somewhat trustworthy. |

Any Chance for the source code for the script ?
I really like a way to check to see if someone online through my website..
I mean it'll search in 1 network of coures.
and have it running with a simple text saying if the nick is online or not.. |

I was gonna say this myself.
I dunno but wouldn't it be simpler to add a who * after the list but during indexing
I mean, That way the time is spread out, I like the idea of real time, But this also allows people to make Denial of Service attacks etc
I realise that some networks dont support the 'who *' command, But it would be a much easier way than /whois NICK on every network.
This would allow MOST of the users who are 'invisible' to be invisible
or even, do a /who * on other networks during indexing, and if someone did a search and the name was found on that network previously, then do the /whois
Plain and simply, i like the who * idea and would also allow matching wildcards (Which, without being controlled, i probably wouldnt suggest due to spammers)
Thanks,
JD
