|
|
| I think that IRC is a growing place and it has users of all age groups. I've noticed that there are a lot of teens and children around the ages of 10 to 18 looking for someplace to chat. It seems like they are being exposed to big networks that dont really care to have teens or children on their network. I know about kidsworld, but from what I've heard it's been dead for a few years. I vistied a few days ago and the network was completely dead w/ about 5 users. I think there must be a kind hearted soul on here that has some sympathy for kids! What are you opinions??? |

| A network dedicated solely to kids is just asking for the freaks of the world to appear on it. Even a channel dedicated to kids is at times hard to manage. A kids channel is welcome on most networks I'm sure, but it is likely to bring problems. I would allow a kids channel on my network, had 2 of them at one point, I think the founder is grounded lately though he hasn't been on for a while. |

Acutally there are networks just for children...
You go to www.searchirc.com Then press IRC Network Then you scroll down you'll see ''Family Networks 15 and Age Groups 10...''
Most smart teens would act mature and pretend to be like 18 or so
Others you'll notice on the forums how they really act |

I dont mind kids chatting in the same rooms as I do (altho there are some prepubescents I'd rather strangle first ). However, there are going to be times when kids also get in one's way. Teens 13+ is fine, anything under that age is asking for trouble from pedos and such. |

Yeah. I get enough of those adult requests on MySpace. And, for god's sake, I'm 15, and a cartoon cow (Heffer, from Rocko's Modern Life.) |

my network has people aged from about 13 upwards, we sometimes get the rare under 13 year old pop in.
2/3 of them seem to be mature, but we have rules in place to stop the immature ones. |

I network solely for teens will take 10 times if not more moderation and management because of the need to keep its users safe from the dangers out there. Running a network just for teens or aimed at teens will take a lot more work then runing any other kind of network. This is why i believe there arnt that many teen based networks or networks aimed at teens.
Another point being is that if you run a network for teens you and your staff can be held responsible for any trouble the teens get into as a result of using your network. |
