okkkkk here it is.. i just wnat a nice little windows setup, cuz it's for a personal thing im trying, howver i can't seem to get an nice setup. im not the best in the world, but i can't get unreal and anope to work. so i am using wircd, not to bad but i can't get a services to work. i have lakeserv 6, and theirs a hugeHUGE error in the adding or removing of service root admins, so i tried lakeserv 4 and theirs and error, well when you add a service root, or op, or admin it doens't add it, and their are no conf files to work with.. so lakeserv is no good. thennnnn i tried beserv, and the old version won't let you have access to services, unless you know the password to example, i evenb tried to change the access levels and then addmyself, but it won't let me add 1000, then i tried the new version and that wno't let me add services opers either. sooooooo anyhelp would be liked...
thanks.. |

LakeServ SUCKS, everyone gets that error.
Unrealircd is the easiest windows ircd to setup, I honestly have no idea what trouble you're having.
As for services, try Magick http://www.neuromancy.net/magick/m2/index.html
there's a windows version. |

| lol well like beserv, and wircd all you have to do is open double click the msdos tihng, and then write the cnhu lines for the services, but unreal you have to go and do stuff to the .conf and i just wanted to get it up and i got a whole bunch of errors, so i never botherd |

Have you tried reading the UnrealIRCd documentation (not to mention example.conf has quite a bit of self-documentation to it)? I agree that when you first edit unrealircd.conf, it does seem confusing and brain scratching, but it does make sense with its BIND-style config (top marks to whoever invented that config style ) |

Hi-
Here is the problem. I am experiencing some problems with malicious users that can vhost through a particular pool very quickly. What I would like to find out is if there is ANY ircd out there that solves the following problem:
User is working with ADSL and upon a kill, within 3secs he is on again with a different IP/DNS on the same pool of ADSL hosts. I would like a unique way of banning this user for example....His source MAC address ( I know he can change it anytime ) or something that the ircd can interface from DATA LINK, NETWORK LAYER that could be unique and be able to ban on that.
I envision some sort of C/C++ program running on the same machine as the ircd server grepping like a source MAC and passing a msg to the ircd to Z-line ( for example ) the particular user no matter of the DNS/IP he is coming up with.
The MAC address may not be the solution that I am looking for, but I wanted a unique way of identifying the same client connecting to the ircd and beeing banned. NAT'ed addresses are not an issue to me because that would cause the Internet Caffe owner to contact us.
Session ID is temporary and would not want to rely on that. Is there something like cksum of OS/hardware a specific PC, Unix host are using so we can segregate culprits and abusers?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and ideas. |
