I think this shows that sometimes online romance can work out. If you do get a divorce it'd only prove my research that 72% of online relationships fail =X

(this stastic is based off my head doing numbers and comming out with an even yet odd number)

I recently married an IRC love. We "met" about 5 years ago, were really good friends, and then I moved up to the area where he lived, we met IRL, and became more than friends.

After being with him for about a year and a half, I married him, and we're blissfully happy! Very Happy

I "met" someone on IRC once but lost contact Sad

It was weird, everything we said was a perfect match. We both liked exactly the same movies, books, food... and then I lost my internet connection for half a year and never saw her again.

I found someone like that recently. We're not even actually "dating" but just talking. Weirdest thing is i've actually known this chick for like two years or more. She's like my twin, it's scary.

I think that the likelyhood of finding a mate on IRC is very small. First of all, most of the people you "meet" are living 1000's of miles away in other countries and even if you do meet somebody who lives near you the chance it's a match is virtually zero.

On the other hand, chatting gives you an oppertunity to "get to know eachother" before you actually meet.

Yea well, I've actually done that long distance thing, it was a bunch of crap and I never will again. This chick lives close but she's just friend I talk to, nothing more at the moment. The chance of a match is true though, while some people do actually find love, it's more often than not, I will say that. Hey, some people do though.

I've seen a lot of "couples" on IRC who both chat with others and eachother... I wonder if they met on IRC or one of them was and the other got interested in it and started to join in.

Are there people here who chat with their lover online?

Yes me, i live away due to work commitments so irc is my only means of contact.

But i do agree myself that opposites attract, being a match by both partners enjoying the same thing others does makes a relationship boring to some extent, when an oppposite likes parter comes along it gives you the chance to explore their ways of enjoyment then.

Me and my other half both are on IRC. We both find it rather addicting. While I'm home most of the day and can play around online, he only has limited online time because of work.

me and my better half met on irc, coming up 11 months ago. the fact that we only lived a 25ish km (about 10miles) away helped...but we're living together...have been for the past 6 or so months. =)

we both irc, we both waste time on the internet... yet we are total opposites in other ways... eg music, hobies rah rah rah...keeps life interesting.
