I pretty much started our network because I wanted to code my own IRC service. And I was 13 years old back then.
These days our network has four unique services, all programmed by us.

The two networks I NetAdmin, I got the title by promotion, not by starting either of the networks. Why? Because I don't have an original idea for a network. I don't have a good idea for starting one. So, rather than increase the number of little networks, I just help the existing networks where possible

I just have to say, TheEd, you are wise, and the world would be better off if more new admins thought like you did.

I was on Hashmark, then they had a services crash for about a week, and we decided it wasn't worth the trouble, so we started our own server for a few channels. We grew, slowly, and picked up other servers who agreed with our philosophy until we got where we are today.

Cons:
- Small sometimes
Pros:
- Knowing that you can trust every staff member on the network
- Small sometimes
- Being able to code/fix stuff in services we don't like, having a diverse network staff has helped so much...about half of us are hardcore sysadmins, half are hardcore programmer, so it's a nice mix Smile

Basiclly, I wanted to try something I haven't done so I decided to run an IRC Network and ever since then, I've been very interested on IRCds, services, etc and taught me a lot about IRC.

I basiclly started one because I delinked from a Network that I really disliked and decided that linking again might be a bad idea... so I just started my own. I was also tired of using unreal and most networks used unreal so another reason would be because I'd rather choose a different ircd.

I started my crappy lil' server for my website. I was tired of the other servers I had used (power hungry people!!) and they fell apart. So I desided to start my own so I would have abs. power.

I had a very popular channel on the undernet but i got frustrated with the amount of lame users, so i simply moved out my community and got away from the chaos.
i have to admit i wasnt sure of what i was doing. and im very surprised of my achievements.

I started mine cause there's to many little kiddies out there running unreal/anaope with nothing but warez/bottler clients on there and the network sucks as far as stability and security goes.
