The SearchIRC indexers have been connecting fine, try contacting the network from thier website.

It is most likely your chat applet on your site is setup wrong.

Hi,

Been having trouble connecting for a while now. Usually I can get in via the main ACN page, get the list of channels, but then either not manage to get onto a channel, or if I do I see no one else typing (and it is a busy place). After a couple of mins my connection drops and I cannot get back to the channels page again (page cannot be displayed).

If I come here and use IRC it always fails to connect.

Weird thing was, last night I got on through the main site no problem, but tonight back to problems again.

I run win xp home with standard norton firewall.

Any suggestions as to what I can look at to get my access back?

Cheers,

JV.

jackvenus, sounds like a classic case of LAG.

Lag can happen anywhere along the connection. Between you and the network server, between the network server you're using and the rest of the network, between the network and another user. First, see if you have problems on other networks. Pick a few from our list and see how well you connect. If you're not experiencing problems on other networks, I'd generally recommend connecting to your favorite net via a server close to your physical location. However it looks like adultchatnetwork has one user server and one for services... so unless they have others that aren't listed in SearchIRC, that won't work. Try signing on at a time other than their busiest... say, 10 am - 2 pm... and see if your connection is better. If so that would indicate the problem lies with overcrowding on the network rather than your connection. A little experimentation should show you where the problem lies, and whether or not you can do anything about it.

Hi Mregit,

Many thanks for that. I've tried just now (as I type this), and I'm connected no problem (so far).

Ah no. I take that back.

In the time it's taken to switch to this window and back to the ACN main site again the channel I was on has hung (for me). Also, I cannot select any of the others.

And now I've been disconnected. Sad

Just tried a couple of other ircs here, and though i seem to be able to connect (which is more than can be said for ACN), it still 'seems' as though I'm not in properly ???

Anything I can do on my PC to make sure the problem isn't with me???

Cheers,

JV.

UPDATE

I'm getting an error when connecting to ACN through here...

"java.net.SocketException : Socket read failed"

Does that shed any light?

Cheers,

JV
