I am just curious as to what IRC Clients are still currently in active development. I have seen so many just drop by the way-side, not sure why, lack of interest, or who knows what.

I know I can speak for IceChat myself, and its still in development at this very time, I am just curious from other developers what their status is on their projects.

Obsidian (not something you will have heard of yet ;p) is sort of getting there in my copious free time. I have too many projects, as well as two jobs and school getting in the way.

kvirc - http://www.kvirc.net/

mIRC was one of the things that stopped me from switching from windows to linux for a really long time and when i did finally make the jump i did a lot of research into different clients.

I decided on kvirc because it's an active project and it offers me pretty much what i had on mIRC, plus the developers are open to suggestions and pretty motivated (i like it because there are features you know they just did because they wanted to see if they could Wink )

There's a windows version too Smile

I use trillian myself - and find it lovely for MSN. However, I *hate* the simplified interface for IRC. IRC is not MSN. Having seperate windows for *each* and *every* channel and PM strewn out over the desktop is messy, and just not possible for someone like me who is generally connected to ~10-12 networks with ~30-40 channels open. I expect GAIM would be similar, however I have not used it.

I really miss trillian. Someone needs to make a nix version.
