| The reason is for you to update information on the network page. Because every network has information to be updated, your information may be delayed a few weeks. Think about it... 1,072 networks, submitting information all the time. Plus, random people, submitting information for 1,072 networks. It has to be sorted through, and etc. |

Network information gets added whenever possible, but things like MyChannel requests and network additions usually get higher priority.
Some network admins request to have direct access to modify their network's information. This is not currently allowed because of the amount of "truth stretching" that has been seen in network information submissions. Information ranging from "The biggest IRC network", "Fastest servers", to "We're better than ______ because _____ sucks donkey balls". Add in that almost all information cannot be trusted at face value (some admins have fake /luser info, fake channel counts, even fake users), and you'll see why we wish to have at least some editorial control.
Keep in mind I was out of town for a week, had to catch up with office work during the weekend, and just bought a car today. Real life has slowed down the usual timely updates, but that doesn't mean things aren't going to be updated :)
