| Um, often times, warez is very commercial. Considering little Johnny down the street downloading a commercial program, called PhotoShop. |

On my network, with servers that I and others who choose to link to me pay for, we may define spam however we wish. If you run a network, you can do that also.
Doesn't matter what the definition is In my AUP, any 'other network related advertising' is spam and earns a 5 day akill.
If you run a network, you can enforce it how you wish. Thats how I choose to enforce it. SearchIRC does it differently, but since it is their resource, they can enforce it how they like.
Doesn't have to be fair, honest, balanced. Only has to be whatever the people paying for it want it to be
We do the same with any spam with 'outwar.com' or any sites similar to it-we keyword akill on those. Say it in a channel, wham, 5 days off. Some other networks may allow it, thats fine. Mine doesn't
You can talk about the definition of spam all you want, but its up to the person who owns and pays for the resource to decide. They even have the right to deny anyone access to it if they wish-just like you deny anyone access to your house if you don't want them there If I don't want people talking about the color purple, I could if I wanted to-thats a little overboard, but the bottom line is, spam or no, the definition is up to the person running the site or the resource. If you don't agree with it, you should seek a resource that meets your needs in that regard then, I would guess |
