You know not ALL servers are like that. Yes there is a few rotten apples in the basket but majority of the IRC servers who want fun and chat are really friendly people. As long there is friendly and fun people out there IRC will never die.

As some of you guys may have seen me on IRC. Here is my opion on the future of IRC. It will have its ups and downs, but IRC will always be big. Sooner or later the big networks like DalNET, and efnet won't be around forever. There gonna die sooner or later. People will get around it though.

Thanks,
Travis

I also believe that IRCDs are to easy to run now a days 11 years ago it was hard to find servers now almost every other domain has a irc server.

A lot of the bigger networks aren't having hardships, sure DALnet did, but EFnet and Quakenet, among others, don't seem to be having many at all. I agree, many small networks will not make it, all you have to do is look at the IRC network announcement forum and see that nearly all of the networks announced there are gone.

I believe IRC will always be at least a percentage of internet users. What I fear is an IRC network that is the IRC network like MySpace coming along and ruining IRC. I give this a 10% chance of actually happening, but regardless the thought is fightning.
