My Book of IRC.

I am not saying anyone has to agree with what I have to say, but it is just me expressing my thoughts about IRC in general. It is your choice to respond to this but i ask if you respect my opinions. As I have been searching on these boards i have people posting "Come to my network irc.blahblah.net/com/org and posting they have about 1k people and are growing each day. I enter the chatroom thinking "oh, finially some people to talk to in a nice sized network" I enter the network and its all warez and bots and one actually CHAT room with 9 or 10 users on it. IRC has completly turned into IRW. When was the last time you seen a good network with a lot of users and no warez. There are few out there. For those of you who like warez..thats your thing but personally i hate it. IRC wasnt meant for that, it was meant to communciate around the world and chat. My goal for my network is to run a all Chatroom network with no Warez room in it. Wheater or not that turns out only time will tell.
I find that networks who get 100+ users in the first day or get like tons and tons of break throughs with users on their first weeks dont end up to well. I find out that rushing to make a network grow will result in nothing at the end. Think of it as running a mile. If you start out running as fast as you can you will run out of breathe quickly and you will get pains in your stomach. If you take it as a steady pace you will get through it a lot easier. Networks who rush to get users and claim they can keep this up dont. I also find IRC an unsafe way of chattingaway. I mean ive met a lot of people hacked on IRC and having their server ddosed. Is basically your point of making a server to have it grow to at least 1k or higher. Then have someone ddos it and all your hard work and money is over. Take mIRCX. To build that up to what it was, only to get ruined because of its populairty and some people wanting to have a little "Fun". You waste years working on a network that may as well be a target. Dont get me wrong IRC is fantastic as well. I find it better than AIM. What better way to chat then talk on IRC. It would be interesting to see what MAY or may NOT get added to IRC such as avatars. These are only half of my thoughts about IRC and your thoughts about it are up to you and i respect them. I hoped you enjoyed my little passage about IRC. It has a few tips and some opinions but i hope IRC is an enjoyable to you..as it is to me.

Personally, my\our network has a policy on warez. The policy was against network policy in a sense, since I try and run it in a democratic fashion. Most users wanted a warez channel of some kind (6-1 vote of those that voted) but I opted to overturn that decision, since I think that it encourages the moral degradation of the network.

lol, good thoughts HHH, I feel me doing so is justified. Firstly, I can't connect to YOUR net .. remember? Smile

Secondly, I'm proud of the 3 users we have. LOL

I'd love to have about 1000 users, I'd have someone to talk to. I have a modest 3k-4k net wish. I'm not wanting to be in the Big 4 or anything like that. I just want ot make a difference.
