Is there any possible way to ban users based on if they ctcp version request another user? My network is currently fairly small so I can easily send out a global message requesting no normal user version another.
I am having issues with various bots connecting. Some of the nicks are
johnnyhudson846
philliploveless523
ericspencer354
etc etc etc
Their idents also contains parts of their name. For example ericspencers ident is simply Eric.
Any ideas on how to prevent these bots? They just join channels, version reply my users, and disconnect after awhile. Thanks |

| Disregard that post. I fixed the issue with a spam filter. However, I am still interested in banning based on no VERSION reply. |

The main problem with banning based on no version reply is what happens for users using clients that don't support CTCP at all?
Or those who chose to turn it off etc...
CTCP is after all option and not in any way required by the IRC protocol specs. |
