I really think SearchIRC should take their fingers out of their bum and not let networks sign up to searchirc if they are gonna be filled with warez!!
Nearly every single network on here has warez, not one nearly simple IRC network with proper users...
Do something about it and delete those networks with WAREZ! |

Just out of curiosity, have you ever thought about how you would enforce that? what constitutes a "warez" network? if someone sends a mp3 to another user, should that whole network be delisted? Should searchirc censor there listing to suit somones ethics?
Just before telling them to "take their fingers out of their bum" you might want to think about some of those issues. Personally I find just not joining warez networks works just great if you dont believe in them, or at least /quit'ing when you know what they are. |

| There are quite a few networks with warez, yes, but there are also many that do not allow warez and I think you are just going to the wrong places. Maybe you should ask here some legit networks that don't promote or allow warez. Besides, before going to a network you could just look at the network's stats and view their channels here on SearchIRC. That would eliminate the need to even visit the network. |

Beg to differ, have you actually checked out ALL the networks on searchirc(i doubt it there are over 4100 of them). I would venture that there are a good proportion of them that dont allow warez channels; my network is one of them. It is up to the owners of the network what they do and dont allow, and how the heck would you censor irc? IRC has always been an peer censored medium, if you dont like the content dont hang on the network.

And the point that keeps being made is how is SearchIRC supposed to keep traack of which networks do and dont have warez on them. |

well u cant delete a network if it has a warez. how about undernet? it got thousands of warez.. but you cant ignore the fact its a huge network with or without warez.
but i agree that there should be some filtration sometimes.
lets say if a network is 80% and more based on warez.. then its a zombie network.. not a chat network..
after all
SearchIRC stands for Search Internet Relay Chat
and now Search Internet Warez |

caveat emptor... well not exactly accurate here but you can do some self sensorship. If you follow a link and the network has warez then dont stay. Likewise for sexuality and sexual expression. I assume, rightly or wrongly, that we are all intelligent adults and should be able to make the choice for ourselves and not have to rely on a third party to do it for us.

SearchIRC can also keep track by having a bot searching through every IRC network and reporting back, always can be scripted.. |

SearchIRC could inspect every user in every channel on every network to determine if that user is a bot or a live human being, and if they are a real person whether that person is presently active or just idling. We could even engage them in conversation and ask questions that would determine their A/S/L and IQ. Then SearchIRC staff can review all that data and give our recommendations as to which networks dedicated strictly to chat are the most wholesome, honest, and stimulating to visit, and match you up with users that share your interests.
We COULD. But we won't. Because that's really lame.
We gather publicly available data and put it on this website for YOU to review. If you find ANY reason that would discourage you from visiting that network.... don't connect to it. Its THAT simple. |

Some networks openly state that they have warez. In the control panel where you edit your networks info, why dont you make another tab that you can click in addition to "Services, Radio/DJ etc" that says Warez. Also, you could make a network section for Warez.
This wouldnt be preventing the network from being listed, but rather more informing the reader which networks condone it. When I am looking for a nice quality network, connecting to a warez network is annoying. |

Adding a category for warez networks could be seen as promoting warez.
Instead, SearchIRC has a category for networks that do NOT allow illegal content or anything sexual, and that is the Family category:

| I dont consider it promoting at all. It's categorizing the various network types on this website. If you think of it as promoting, wouldn't you also be promoting Sexual content/networks with your "Sexuality" tab? |
