I want to thank everyone who is submitting information about their favorite IRC networks. It is very difficult and time consuming to search through websites and visit networks to get the data we need. By posting and providing us with accurate information, you insure your favorite network is completed before others. There is a mountain of data to be filled in, but with your help we are steadily making progress. :)
A few hints before you hit send:
DO use User Comment forms to provide SearchIRC with network data.
DO NOT use User Comment forms to ask for warez. I don't know where you can get matrix reloaded. I will not send it to you. I don't have it. I watched it at our local theatre and will wait to buy the DVD, thank you. I am not going to answer emails about warez.
DO NOT use User Comment forms to say hello. We love you all, but filling up our inbox with "Hi" keeps us from adding network info. ;)
DO make sure all the basics are covered in your network section - do we have accurate info about services, nick length, network history? Is your logo and website displayed? If we don't have it, we need it!
If we DO have it, we don't need it! If we already tell users your network has ChanServ, you don't need to tell us again. :)
DO volunteer additional information. We have pages and pages to fill up, so if you want to elaborate and add more to what is there, send it in!
DO NOT give formula answers. So far we have about 700 IRC networks that say they have friendly and helpful opers. I am sure yours are too - but that isn't going to make you stand out in the crowd. Ditto that when it comes to claiming small is better than big, or your net is the best IRC network in the world, or inviting users to visit and switch networks to yours. These are all judgement calls that USERS should make.
DO tell us about custom services, popular channels, unusual features, scheduled chats, classes, etc, that make your network different from others. If it truly IS special, you will have more users than you can handle.
DO NOT lie. Do not exaggerate. Do not mislead. Deception always comes back to bite you.
DO NOT submit information that has nothing to do with IRC or promotes other business ventures by the companies that host the servers. Make sure your website is about the *IRC* network, not your shell services, or discount store, etc.
DO NOT load clones or drones, or link to OpenNap servers, or pad your server's /luser lists in order to get to the top of SearchIRC lists. A REASONABLE number of bots are acceptable, but you will quickly find yourself OFF those lists if do anything to mislead users to the size of your network and channels.
I think thats about it... but I am sure someone out there will think up something new to keep life interesting. :) |
