Hi, I've pretty much figured out how IRC works and so on, but how do you find stuff ? I mean, I know how to find channels with ppl to chat with and so on, but I like e-books and am looking for channels where I can dl them. Unfortunately, I have no idea where to look. Anybody can post me some channel/networks ? Thanks.

You can find servers and channels here on searchirc (the home page is a good place to start).

As for downloading things like e-books etc, most online bookstores have a good range of ebooks at reasonable prices and there's plenty of online resources for literature that's out of copyright Smile

Hello to all,
Hi I am new here, been searching channels to try to meet peolple, takes work, hmmm to make freinds, hmmm just like in real life. Fancy that!

Been trying some irc servers:

undernet:
friendster -went and signed up
chatbuddies
chatzone

ircnet- has pokerstars channel!!

Anyway looking for a Good semi-moderated server with not a flood of people and if it is good I could have a bunch of chatters I could lead there.

I have been messaging back and forth on a ForumGroup called
CHATMANIA
http://www.chatmania.net/forum/
VERY COOL

So I guess you could say I am trying to join different online communities together.
I have a proboards forum set up with some excellent and powerful features.
Have a webpage & yahoo group with people that having a hard time with the java chat.
Well if anyone has any suggestions, respond with any channels /servers you think are good. E-mail me if you wish

Here is a list of some small chat-only networks-

irc.chattingaway.com
irc.inteliinternet.com
irc.starchat.net

A lot of friendly people on all of them. Hope this gives you some place to start.

Edit-
I re-read your post, and now I'm not sure what your intentions are. If its solely to get people to sign up for your forums don't even bother. Most channels/networks will not take kindly to that kind of stuff.

Anyone else amazed that an irc newbie would find their way to "SearchIRC", and post a question on how to find channels on IRC?

*grin*

I think that's the first time I've seen this being asked here.
