the question of the day: is would you rather be on a network with 1000 users but no chat, or a community with 40 users, witch has games to play and people to chat with. A place where you are a person and equal to the admins.

Define equal with the admins
It's promised on to many nets, and seldom a fact.
However, IRC is of course ment to chat |

| My server currently averages around 50-55 people, but no warez. Know what, at least it's interesting, because conversations happen. I think i'd rather have that than a network full of idlers/leechers. Where's the fun in that? |

more users chat on servers that run conferenceroom, if you notice, there arent too many CR servers that allow warez.. since the admins are usually adults (cuz you have to pay for CR) and they want their network to be run professionally
if I paid $5000 for a server I sure as hell would want users to chat instead of lag my server with bots (sending files of pirated software aka warez) and not gain anything but trouble (ie. DDoS attacks, floods, etc) |

| I'd like to be on the 40 user/chat network. I think warez has no place anywhere, nevermind an IRC network. On the network I help run, we make sure to treat users with respect as much as possible. |

marketing for irc servers is why we are here and you have to think of innovative ways to do that and i think mine are quite funny if i do say so myself just goes to show you how much fun you would have on irc.chatmatrix.net |

Ok, then if thats the case, I'll market too:
All of the people who have seen this thread and would prefer warez AND chat, check out my network, since you can do both on mine
Now, don't complain, if all you are doing is marketing, I can market against what you're marketing, right? Oh, and they didn't answer the question correctly-if everyones correct answer was "chat", then there would be absoloutely no warez on IRC, correct? So yea, you think thats the correct answer, but if you look at search IRC's statistics for alot of networks, you will find that there is a good portion of the people (i'd say more than 50%) who don't want a chat only network-you've said it yourself, networks that allow warez are huge. Why is that? Perhaps because they provide something people want? I dunno I think its the right answer for you, your network, and your 'marketing ploy' but that doesn't mean your answer is the correct answer for everyone
I think the people that agreed with you run their own networks anyway, I don't really see them dropping what they are doing and dropping their networks to join yours either. But, who knows. Maybe your marketing strategy will work. I didn't reply till now because I knew what it was, it was bait for you to brag about your network Hey, brag all you want, I don't care Just don't say something is the correct answer when statistically, people do love IRC for warez. They just won't love it on your network since you don't allow it, thats all |
