ive been waiting nearly a month to be added to searchirc and when it comes time what ever method you use totally sucks.

says the connection times out.. yea you must have used a wrong address or port. cuz quite frankly anyone who trysd can connect and im there 24/7 with most snomasks on and not once did i see a search irc related person or bot try to connect..

please recheck it. this will have been about a month wasted.

the network was gaminglegendIRC (irc.gaminglegend.net) ports 6667-7000

Hi Toboe,

I reviewed your network.

The information submitted is:

02.10.05 6:43am
GamingLegend x
http://searchirc.com/nourl.php
irc.gaminglegend.net

The result of the review is:
Rejected
Connection timed out to submitted server.

If I get an error, I try connecting again a few minutes later, and then one last time before rejecting the network. Let me assure you that I have NO reason to reject networks without cause.

I just tried again and I was able to connect immediately, so I suggest resubmitting your network. We had over 90 networks submitted within two weeks so we did get backlogged but there is a very short waiting list right now so if everything else checks out, you should be approved quickly.

Well I do understand your point, but if mregit couldn't connect it probably was a problem at your network and that is probably the reason for your network being rejected, as she stated.

an email from jason makes me think it was rectified we will try again.

voodoo there wasnt a "network issue" but there was infact a domain issue enom.com hijacked it. however it was still alowing connections as many people was able to connect (i even saw jason connect after i sent a feedback contact abou t it and mregit shortly after when this was posted)

hopefully ive rectified the hijacking if not im not sure what my options are going to be. a server cant be succesfull unless advertised with something like searchIRC.

P.S: Being listed on SearchIRC netsplit.de etc does not make your network any more likely to succeed.

DNS problems happen. If I can't connect, I leave the network as "waiting to be processed" and move on. In a few minutes, I go back and try again. If I still can't get in, I'll hold that network on the side until am finished with all the rest and try one last time. If after those three tries I still cannot connect, I reject the network. I don't use different shells, different clients, use the ip, come back next week, go over to the ISP and fix the domain name server, etc - because if I can't connect easily, the indexer and other users will run into problems too. *Nothing personal* Fix the problem, resubmit (because once its reviewed it drops off my radar), and I'll come back.

As for IRC directories... we hear over and over again from admins that it is ESSENTIAL to be listed on SearchIRC. Admins get cranky if they aren't reviewed and added a day after they open their doors. They get REAL cranky if we catch them running a few thousand bots on their network to move themselves up in rankings and we stop listing them. We don't have to guess why, they TELL us that being here is important to bring in users.

This is a good thing. :)

oh mregit im not saying your at fault Razz (honestly i thought it was a bot that validated it:P)

and i wouldnt do that . id rather get ojn searchirc the right way instead of trying to fool everything.

then dns looks "fixed" enom is still trying to hijack my other domains but for now my irc domain seems safe.

yea but being listed on a indexing site gets the word out and allows users to take a look at your network to see if they like it. thats all that can be asked.

Yeah yeah, it was only my fault if I was a bot. :p

Don't worry I don't take it personally. lol I aspire to be more botlike in all I do and say.

Your network was reviewed again this morning (by a bot and then me) and approved. Now it is "waiting to be added" which just means Jason has to activate your indexer -- and that should happen later this evening. Good luck with your new network. :)

Sorry if the instructions weren't clear. You're actually supposed to type "addme" BEFORE you join the channel.

Hope that helps.
