That's the attraction. Anna Nicole is portrayed as gluttony personified, in every area of her life. TV lets us see how totally self absorbed she is, and we can shake our heads in wonder as a whole army of dimwitted servants humor her by indulging her every whim.
At once we're both horrified and intrigued. She's beautiful, but fat. She's rich, but doesn't appreciate it. She is surrounded by people who would hand feed her, and she disdains them.
But we KNOW (because we have a clue, don't we?) that by watching her show, by watching her make herself look So Bad in front of the world, we're feeding the little piggy... We are Part of the Machine... and she is laughing as she runs alllll the way to the bank. |
