So, this is what bugs me about the help wanted forum.

All these massive 10 user network owners come in posting about their network with 5 posts to their name. They come in and say, ohh i need users. USERS DOES NOT EQUAL HELP WANTED. How is a user going to help you? Besides making your feel special because he is on your network (or she). So, get that through your heads, users does not equal help wanted.

Second, these same people come on and want operators and offer all kinds of o-lines for experienced operators to help them out with a "growing" network. BTW, if your network doesn't increasingly get users, IT ISN'T GROWING!!! But these guys come on here, and then they want you to bring some users with you, or expect you to get users. HEY, NO. I don't give a flying one if you have users or not, my job is to protect your network from attacks and unstable users. I do not get users for you! Unless you hire me as a PR person, I am not bringing you users. Why? I don't give a flyer!

So, TTFN.

I totally agree with you, Invisible - but how many admins follow common sense on some things?

(sidenote: I'd almost consider this "splatworthy" in How to use SearchIRC)

I've been wondering similar things myself. Identical posts in the Network Announcements, IRC Networks and Help Wanted forums, not really helping anything except my desire to stay away from your network.

I don't think SearchIRC brings many users any more, so much as allowing other admins to socialise and visit other networks, to visit or to stay.

I think it would be well deserved for thread-removals of those who multi-post (effectively spamming), and those who continue to break the rules posted regarding network names in thread titles and one-thread-per-network.

I think even asking for users is stupid in the first place. Why? Because ALL networks want users. Name one that DOESN'T want more users.

Normally I'd agree whole heartedly. However, 99.99% of the time the network just goes *poof*, no warning ... nothing.

Nice seeing you again, mouse Smile

List sent as requested Wink

Just went through the front pages, and probably missed several.

Should also be a forum rule regarding multiposting the same (or effectively the same) message to IRC Networks, Network Announcements, Help Wanted, Services Offered or any other forum at searchirc. If it fits multiple topics, pick the ONE it fits best, and ONLY post to that forum. If you have updates, update your thread ccordingly, don't just start a new one - it is, afterall against the rules to have multiple threads for the same network in each section.

And to the recent post in Network Announcements I think it was, using a poll to highlight your thread is just dumb.
