networks that allow warez are huge. Why is that?

why is that well bottlers come and infest the network and they dont need sleep so they will never leave then more bottlers come and stay and more and more ................ and before you know it you have 1000 users on a network are they true users i think not but each to his own i guess but thats the main reason i dont like warez trust me i love warez i am not by any means dissing a network for having it or dissing warez in general as far as im concerned warez makes the world go around i just think that a net without it can truly brag when they get 1000 users and have no warez if you understand what im saying!

:?: I really wonder who you're aiming your "marketing" at. Raise your hand if you're a user looking for a "cool chat" place to chat and/or d/l warez at.

many people worry about bandwith usage these days...

maybe you should start charging money for users who register their own channels, or make it so it costs them a penny for each word they type

another possibility is switching to a provider with no bandwith limits (I guess you'd have to start your own internet service provider for that)

well we dont or wont have bandwidth issues as we dont allow warez we even have channel registering for users disabled ......... a little harsh? we think not, we will gladly open a channel for a user, and like i said before if they stick around and have a userbase would give them some web space/hosting.
we arent trying to control people just want our no illegal channel rule to be respected i know a lot of people like that idea and the web space is just because we care Smile

People want different things from IRC personaly i don't call Warez majority networks a irc network. There is no "chat" so people who use irc for warez in my view arn't real ircers.

and i can honestly agree with you on that because its a cop-out to allow warez to get users as bottlers arent real users and like i said they infest and multiply so to allow warez your user count isnt a true count whatsoever

warez/file trading to my knowledge involves the use of peer to peer which does not affect server bandwith..

however the amount of connections may lag the server, and the repetative messages sent to channels will lag it as well

As I see it, the main problem with warez related channels (other than the fact they violate laws in most countries) is that they often generate a large amount of spam in other channels - due to advertising. They are also likely to aid in the propagation of various viruses/trojans/worms and so on - I certainly don't trust warez, especially when people go out of their way to advertise their collection.

Of course your side of the poll won-its simply biased Smile I don't see many warezers coming on here to vote, probably because they are too busy on IRC getting files Smile

Oh well, doesn't matter. Doesn't matter to me anyway, to be honest. You run your network, I'll run mine, like I have been for over 2 years now. I'll allow what I want, you allow what you want, doesn't really matter.

I hope this marketing campaign has gained you many users and servers. I doubt it has, though. You'll notice I don't post my network much on here-I'd rather have my current users bring thier friends, and thats more than plenty for me. Enjoy.

I totally agree, on one network I was on, there was a user creating new viruses that are not listed on any antivirus software nor detected by it, and it really damaged some users computers by spamming users with the URL address of the page..

Since this was an unreal server I just set it so all users get +G on connect.. then added http and www to the badwords list.

it really cut down on the problem, and the spammers gave up and went to another network
