|
SleisySoft Network, established at the beginning of August, 2008, running the ircu ircd with srvx services, is currently seeking to put together a staff. We aren't exactly in need of a whole lot of help at the current moment, as we really don't have a large userbase at the time, but there are a couple areas that we need help with.
Here is a list of available areas that you can contribute to:
--- Development Manager
The development manager's duty is to head up the development of all
aspects of the network, both ircd and services and website
development. The Development Manager will be responsible for
assigning projects to certain developers, and ensure that all deadlines
are met. The Development Manager will also be responsible for the
development team as a whole, including the seeking of developers.
The Development Manager will also communicate regularly with the
Community Director to ensure that all of the public demands are
satisfied and met, and to keep updated on user feedback regarding
development tasks.
--- Marketing Director
The Marketing Director will work to get the network name more noticed
in the IRC community, including, finding communities that may be
interested in utilizing an IRC network for their chat based facility.
Anyone interested in the above positions may visit irc.sleisysoft.net and contact me in #SleisySoft, or simply send an email to darkw@sleisysoft.net, stating which position you are interested in, and a history of previous experience, as well as the outcome result of such experience. (As an example for Marketing Director: I was staff for irc.blah.net is not acceptable. I was in the "such and such" position for irc.blah.net, responsible for promoting the network on community forums, such as searchirc.com, successfully bringing in well over 200 visitors to the network. That is acceptable...). As for the development position, a response such as, I programmed this cool feature for irc.blah.net is not acceptable. A response such as, "I programmed feature x, which did this and that" is acceptable.
Also, if you can please provide sample work to show what you are capable of doing, for example, a patch that you made, or in the case of the marketing position, pretend you have service A that you are trying to sell to me, show me what you'd do to market the brand and service to attract my attention. By providing sample work, showing your skills, you may have a better chance at being selected for an interview.
All applicants should have the following qualities:
- Ability to work well either alone or with a team with a good attitude and ability to get along with others
- Proper English, spelling, professional/politely spoken
- Good communication abilities
- Working knowledge of the position applied for
- To understand and deliver excellence in the area applied for
- A willingness to learn and adapt to methods used on the network
- Able to meet deadlines, or in other words, be regularly active
Requirements are as follows:
- Must be of age 18 or older
- Must be able to communicate in the English language
Serious applicants only please. This is a serious network, with plans to make a difference in the world of IRC. Please note that you may be asked to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement for the development area position(s). |

I didn't post this topic to get replies claiming its too much for a volunteer based position. If you're interested, reply, if not, move on. Surely, there will be people that are up for it, so speak for yourself.
Regarding your claim to me not keeping my commitment, as you may or may not of known, 3 weeks ago (I think it was), when the hurricane hit, and survived through many of the north eastern states, Ohio was one of them, leaving me without power for a week and a half, and as a result, causing me to lose a lot of my files. I worked for that whole week then to finish that "way too much work for a volunteer based commitment", only to find that you just completely ended it. I even told you that IRC wasn't a good way to contact me, and gave you my email. That's your fault, not mine.
Anyhow, end of discussion. Back to the topic, if anyone is interested, you know what to do! |

| I agree. You have my email, and ability to PM me xTu. Feel free to use it to rant and throw some of that anger at me. I don't mind, as I do listen to all feedback, whether good or bad. |

By that logic, technically any IRC Operator and/or Server Administrator or even Support/Network Helper position requires way too much work for a volunteer based commitment..
Again, as I've said before, if you feel it's too much work for a volunteer based position, there is no need to reply stating that opinion. This is asking for people who wouldn't mind volunteering, so if that's you, then reply. There's no need to post that useless junk "Too much work for a volunteer based position", which generally means you're not interested, so you have no reason to post.
Anyone else with more than half a brain cell? |
