Yeah, I'm aware of other networks dedicated to anime fans like me, such as Immortal-Anime (I've only been on one of their channels for a group I know of), but I decided to make my own for a somewhat different purpose. Basically, what we would like to do is to have users use our network to talk about different animes available, but we do not allow any sort of illegal activities, such as the sharing of anime via XDCC bots and such.

We're currently very new, only being around since mid-July, there-abouts. The most users we have had is about 9, but that's dwindled down to ~4 since those communities are... falling apart, so to speak. And so, I'm hoping there may be some other users who would like to have a look at our network to look around for a bit, or consider linking to perhaps. We're not... necessarily looking for links at the moment, but is soon planned in the near future.

Our main IRC server, named "Yukina" (for reference sake =P) is located at irc.shadowhime.net. I don't have direct access to the A Record to do a Round Robin type of thing mainly since of where I purchased the domain, so I may consider trying/doing something else to provide a pool of servers in case we do end up having links.

And how much do you pay for this domain? I recommend you transfer to GoDaddy and use their Total DNS service, full control over A records and the likes. It's only £7 a year, you know! =P

Good luck with looking for users and links, by the way, starting from scratch is never an easy task.

It's currently $12/year, and I'm not using GoDaddy mainly since I have seen their services and had some rather... major troubles with them. Not to mention the fact I also have a hosting package along with my domain and I've only recently heard about A Records and such.

Actually, I just remembered I have another domain I bought when I got the IRCd package... At least with that one, I have access to the A Records, among other things.

I'm really not a fan of double posting. -_-

Ok, I failed to mention this, but I run on Inspire IRCd 1.1.21 with Anope Services 1.7.22. I have about 20 something modules in total loaded with the IRCd. Probably would of helped if I mentioned it earlier.

Hi TwinShadow. Perhaps you might give namecheap a try for domain registrations. I believe the current price there is about $8, sometimes having discount coupon codes (search for them on google) that gives it to you for about $6 or $7 with free WhoisGuard and such..

In any case, try asking the company you purchased it from if they can set up the A records for you. Just let them know the IP's and such. Anyhow, if your network doesn't work out as well as you intend, feel free to join me at irc.sleisysoft.net, as we welcome any (legal) group/community, and will do our best to accomodate for them as much as needed.

It is true, I asked the provider set up an A Record for the main domain (shadowhime[dot]net) for the IRC, but I don't think he would like it if I bombard him with requests to update the A Record all the time. XD (which is why I'd like to have control, but I also use that domain for another purpose, and thus, hard to transfer)

I've got something stable going on. Currently having a talk with WonderLand IRC Staff to see if we can work something out with linking. Unreal and Inspircd are similar, but there are a few things I'm not fond of in Unreal at the moment, so linking is rather hard. But I will keep in mind of your offer, been a little busy as of late to do much checking around right now. (finding a car for myself, paying for it, insurance... yeah, pain in the butt)

I just hope I can get my network listed in SearchIRC soon. XD Seeing a backlog of about a month is not necessarily promising, but oh well.

Actually, GoDaddy do have a bad reputation for their hosting packages, but their domain only services are second to none, I absolutely love them, and this is coming from someone who's been through quite a few in the past.

In your case then TwinShadow, you might have at best, two options, but at worst, one option. One option you have is to have them set the nameservers of the domain to zoneedit.com after you create an account on zoneedit.com and get the nameserver information. There, you will have the ability to manage your dns for free.

The other option is, if you have cPanel with your hosting, you can control your domain as well, by adding subdomains. You might check into that. Or if not, perhaps your host may be able to give you a method to control your domain. Good luck with your network, whether you decide to go on with that link or not.

True DNS control is only available via WHM, cPanel on its own only allows for sub-domains and redirects, really, so you're screwed if you have an IRCd on something other than the server you have cPanel on.

I still stand by my suggestion, really, GoDaddy are brilliant for domains.

Like I said, I actually own two domains, ShadowHime, and another I just remembered. The two domains are not on the same provider, and with the second domain, there I have access to A Records and such.
