| xtu2 wrote: | Well I read your book, but I will come back and inform you I have a decades worth of administrative experience. Both in IRC and with network operating systems such as Linux etc. my professional experience ranges from secured linux network o/s's to coding C/Bash/VB applications in a network environment. To be honest, I am not sure why you think I wanted to code a closed-source IRCd? I never meant that in any way. For costs sake I have an inside referral that can get me the license for $100 so money is not a real issue here for licensing, for clients supported yeah 10k but really, we're talking top 10 networks now. I appreciate your suggestion and comments but please don't be so quick to judge ones experience, it's quite offensive in my eyes. As for the project, I scrubbed it. The only support I got was "ill be an IRCop!" So never mind, I will be focusing my efforts with FusionChat and SGWirc.
Thanks for the tips |
ok a few shorts here
1> I too work in Networking including DataCenters and longer than I've been on IRC. (which is only 1 tiny aspect of IRC administration)
2> I also code (although coding skill is irrelenvent here)
3> I too have admined all OS's from Unix, Linux, Mac and windows (it's nice that an admin knows their OS of choice)
4> CR is the closed source IRCd, I thought you knew that.
5> You mentioned "enterprise solution", so I naturally was refering to the "enterprise" version in an attempt to stay on topic.
6> The price on the website for said "enterprise" edition is $2k (which supports 10k connections)
7> I never said you wanted to code a closed source ircd. I was refering to CR which is already closed source. (see #4)
Finally, you complained or at least commented about people giving up too easily, yet here you are saying nevermind after only a few short posts.
At any rate, it was nice chatting. If you are still interested in a professionally run IRC Network where the admins experience is in years and not months or days .. PM Me!

I'd like to be one to point out, considering for some reason the past few months I've been seeing A LOT of people claim 'Decades' on IRC usage/experience/etc, that IRC literally is only 20 years old as of last month, so to say Decades as it goes beyond that or something seems silly, and unless you were part of the core team that created IRC... : P
And another amusing fact, Microsoft (who created Conference Room) doesn't even use CR as broadly anymore it seems... sooooo : P |

I've been an IRC admin for 13 years. I've had my hands inside computers for 25 years .. no I'm not a 20 year kid.
secondly, he said a decades worth of admin experience, he meant it's decade's as in possesive "a decade's worth" not plural as in more than 1 decade.
third, CR was NOT written by microsoft, it was written by Webmaster, Inc MS created comic chat as part of MS Exchange. |

When ties together the 'Decades worth' in both it makes it sound like its both : P (Noting I was referring to xtu2 when I said that comment by the way, not you)
To my knowledge in lines of ConferenceRoom, MS had a bit part of it (I mean when you look at when they did IRCX for the old MS Exchange), generally everything I still see about CR gets MS tagged to it, so dunno. |
