From what i have heard from several IRC friends of both genders, there seems to be a connection between their gender and how they place their channel windows on the screen. There are too few people in the channel where we discussed this to really get a clear answer to this, that is why this poll is here. Some theories were posted about why it is like this, but i will wait with posting those until there are some votes.

This is just a fun poll, don't expect any real scientific evidence from it Razz

What do you mean by visible? Like Window > Cascade?

I have too many open windows to do that... 19 to be exact..

so.. maximized!

Yes, i mean tile or cascade, or as i do it, every channel has its own fixed place/size on the screen. I only tab between servers.

I'm a male (last I checked...), and I like to keep all my windows maximized - if only due to my coding ways where it's easier to see as much of your code as possible.

I have a treebar on the left side so any events in the other windows are easily noticed

Okay, I voted. I tile my windows on the left side of my screen and work on the right. That way I can just look to see what's going on without interrupting what I'm doing. So... female and visible.

Yeah... btdt. I've tried various things over the years - set up multiple monitors, ran IRC on my desktop and worked on my laptop, had a humongous monitor so I could keep everything large. I'm as nearsighted as a mouse. I want it all, right there under my nose. So one medium sized monitor works well. I tile because I don't like to have to tab - every second counts if I need to act. If its there and the screen starts moving faster than normal it catches my eye.

Whatever floats your boat. Not sure if there's a gender connection or not... but it would be interesting to find out.

female here... and all mine are minimized... switch and swap between em like a bit of a loony Very Happy

I know a male that is very particular about using different 'desktops' for different things on his linux... one for browsing web, one for mail, one for irc etc etc if thats any help Very Happy

I personally think male/female work very differently.. its the way we think Very Happy
