|
|
We recently made the switch from Unrealircd to Bahamut, and everything has been pretty good, most of the time I see...
| Quote: | | SIGNOFF scrawl75 (ines@data.searchirc.org SearchIRC Crawler) signed off at atlantis.fl.us.xalaris.net Quit: [SearchIRC] Indexed 15 channels in 2 secs @ May 14th, 2008, 2:46 pm |
But the last few times scrawl has connected I see
| Quote: | | scrawl00 (eparties@data.searchirc.org SearchIRC Crawler) signed off at defender.tx.us.xalaris.net Quit: [SearchIRC] Error on Xalaris - No channels found |
I've search through the forums and have found others that have had this prob, and I've checked, and none of my servers are connected to any other network and I've bounced to each server and a /list and it shows the channels on each server?
So why might I be getting this error?
thanks.

*** Invalid data found (dup server): defender.tx.us.xalaris.net on Xalaris and Twilightdomain (Active1_Index)
It previously saw defender.tx.us.xalaris.net on Twilightdomain before it saw it on yours, so whenever it spotted it on your network, the robot would disconnect instead of recording the info.
I've purged Twilightdomain's server list, so it shouldn't happen again. |

I don't know if I made it clear, but when the bot sees two servers with the same name, the older one is assumed to be the legit one, and it rejects info from the duplicate. Because of this, it's not possible for someone to duplicate a server on a network to prevent your network from being indexed. The purpose of this is to prevent merged networks from having duplicate information in SearchIRC.
While on your side it looks like it suddenly stopped, on my side a trouble report is emailed once a day with a list of networks that contain duplicates. Because there is no way to automatically decide what to do, a human has to process it. I don't process the list very frequently though. Eventually it would have been processed and resolved. |
