hi.

i have set up a xen domain on one of my colo'd servers.
two lucky people have the possibility of running their ircds there should they want.

there are some base rules:

1) no warez, ddos, illegal activity. i will randomly run tcpdump to monitor your network's activity to ensure that it is compliant with this rule.

2) i would prefer that the ircd be an ircu/ts6 ircd of some sort. inspircd would also work. unreal users may be considered, but they will be considered a last resort.

i don't care what services are used, but if you use atheme, you will likely be better considered than otherwise. sirv3 users are fine as long as i dont get stuck with having to host the services daemon.

the xen domain runs gentoo ~x86. emerge --info:

his box, his call. There are some who hate Unreal for many reasons (be it they consider it buggy/exploitable/innefficient or what ever, or they dont like the configuration style - just for examples).

I never said that Unreal wasn't an option. I said that ircu-style networks would be preferred above Unreal/InspIRCd networks. (Mostly Unreal, since InspIRCd can be adapted to be ircu-like.)

Unreal is great. I just do not wish to have anything to do with it.

It's a good offer. I'd take him up on it if I had the users to support the need for another shell, but at the moment the network dosen't. Redundancy can be a good thing, so I have been considering it. Good luck to whoever takes him up on the offer and gets use of these.
