|
|
A network I oper for, has been a SearchIRC member since its beginning, and for as long as I can remember (and all the documentation I've seen agrees) scrawl visits us every hour, give or take a couple of seconds. For the past week or so now, I've noticed we've been getting hit by scrawl every 20 minutes (at :05, :25, and :45 past the hour respectively). I've tried searching the appropriate forums for updates, searched through the documentation, and can't see any reason for it. At first I thought one of our networks (we're a merge of several) was being listed seperately, but then I realised it was far too regular, and network-specific channels were only listed once in a channel search. So the question is, is scrawl scanning more regularly, or is there a deeper, network-specific problem? I'll freely provide more information, if/when it is required |

also on a network where I am oper, I notice the same thing. However, I don't really mind the extra visits if it means that channel data is provided more accurately and more in a realtime sense |

Good eye zeke :)
I've been making a lot of tweaks to lower the load on the box The indexers use up a lot of cpu since there's so many of them running, downloading, parsing data, and updating database records at the same time.
The system load has dropped quite a bit, so I decided to try increasing the connect rate by 1/3rd. So far it looks good. |
