im not sure how many people here have heard of ircx, but for those of you that went to irc.msn.com how many of you would be willing to go on a new ircx server, they're not windows servers, its actually a hybrid based ircx server. Its also not Mooircd, this is more stabler so far. Currently its under development but users can check it out. People are looking for something unique in an irc server, this would be unique in many ways, there are not very many ircx servers, and those that are ircx, are mostly windows servers. if many people are interested in seeing how ircx is like, let me know on here and i'll post the address to the server. once its totally publicly open, maybe some of you would be interested in making the change.

[edit]
just a little FYI, a few years back, msn had a different chat service. its protocol was called ircX. users of all different clients were allow to connect. the X is extended. whats different about ircx from ircd? well, there were no real services for ircx, how ever, channels could be registered. keeping them secure would be by use of ownerkeys or host keys, or owner access like your hostmask etc etc. ircx also aloud a channel type that looks like %#channel. ircx also allowed extended ascii characters in nicks and channels. for example, you can have © or a flase space so your name would look like either 'scion© or 's c i o n
questions about it? ask.

Well it would only seem fitting that an IRCX server be running on a Windows box, considering Microsoft Created the IRCX Extentions

there is currently a stable IRCX server in development, much more stabler than mooircd but...i've ran ECS, its a pain to control remotly. This is a ircx server based on hybrid. If people ran a ircx server, they'd have to practically own their own datacenter, or run it from their cable connection. with this, you can run it from any *nix shell.

One server you can try is irc://irc.wcnetwork.net .It has ChanServ,NickServ and MemoServ altho you dont see them in channels. Its very new one so its bit quiet, but you might wanna take a look

Thats ircpro, its VERY buggy and VERY exploitable, if you must run a win32 ircx server, run MS exchange.

ignition-project.com Very Happy - I am gonna try to arrange with them to run an official IRCx. I own my own clusters in the hopone datacenter, so I can afford to run it, and maybe even have hosting packages for it.

last time i checked, ms exchange was a mailer deamon not an irc deamon, if you must run a wircd as stated before on this form use ConferenceRoom its designed and built for windows, but of course like most windows programs you pay for it, you pay BIG for it, check http://www.webchat.org

Try http://www.webmaster.com for Conferenceroom -- webnet/webchat has nothing to do with the IRCd itself, other than the fact that webnet runs that type of IRCd software exclusively.

Bayou Ruler is correct. There are several IRCX networks out there. I run one and I tend to agree that Exchange is much better and more secure than IRCXPro. I have not tested Ignition Server very extensively yet but intend to in the near future. If you are looking for IRCX networks there is a list of them on the Microsoft Chat Resource site
