no offense, but it's not a bad idea to surf the various nets until you find a net you like, software/people/rules ... etc. Then work your way up through the ranks. You'll have more interest in your position as well as have a deeper bond of friendship with your peers. Instead of taking out an ad on a website and getting "hired" without knowing a lot about the net.
It's a human trait to respect an item more when it is earned versus the same item when it was given.
Just my opinion though. |

Well, thats a great bit of advice. But not everything works that way. I've done what you've said and it hasn't given me any form of an advantage. Well, this is the best way I have to do it and besides, I am not going to go on some net, and than ask if they are hiring. I'm a fairly quiet type and thats significantly out of my nature, plus I believe it can be rude to do as well.
I'm just trying to find something for me to do with my spare time. I have no problem earning it, in fact, I believe in the polar opposite. |

Understand completely. I too and usually quiet and have been on IRC just as long as you have, I find that my values as to how IRC should be run make it difficult to find a place to fit. However, I found that patience has payed off.
I took a bit of a hiatus from SIRC for a few reasons .. some personal .. some professional, but most predominately, I've found a place that I fit in very well and have been spending most of my otherwise wasted time on a few meaningful projects.
PM me sometime and perhaps we can talk again, I've seen several things in your post that are similar to myself. Who knows, perhaps you may fit in well with one of them.

Hi Flash154,
You seem like a responsible, dedicated person. PurpleSurge is in need of someone to help with a few overhauling duties. PurpleSurge is an established, organized network, but the last couple months it's remained stagnant and I want to keep the development going.
I would appreciate it if you have time to stop by irc.purplesurge.com. You can PM me directly, my nick is Legend. I'm usually available to chat in the evenings. I'd like to see how we can get you involved.
The entire staff is friendly and mature. As cliche as it may be, it's like family. I'd be grateful if you choose PurpleSurge.
Good luck in your search

I've been busy dude. I've been training rookies and stuff. But I'll come on by either tommorrow or the weekend, and stick around some more, things are gonna be mellowing out for me.
Sorry bro. |
