Hi,
My network, ClanIRC, uses srvx - on average we have anywhere from 50-150 users connected at once, however we're made up of only three main channels which are very specific in content. You can access it with irc.theunforgotten.net until a permanent rr is setup.
I've been using srvx for years and in my opinion it is far superior than other services :p |

That would make it a problem with your mail server.
Alot of the time the cookie emails get filtered into junk/spam folders of email providers, especially ones like hotmail and yahoo. |

Hotmail tend to go to the extent of ignoring SPF checks on an email to determine it as coming from an authorized sending server for that domain Where as a lot of ISP's like AOL and many others do support SPF checks meaning if you have an SPF record set up for your domain telling the recipient servers out there of which servers are allowed to send mail for your domain then most places will accept it as legitimate instead of SPAM. See http://www.openspf.org/ for more information.
Please bear in mind that WONT prevent emails from your domain as being marked as spam nor will it be 100% efficiant but it will help with most recipients. |

| lol, i use my domain's mailserver to handle the spam... of the hundred or so spam emails I get an hour, about 98% of them are vaped off the server, and the rest that do get delivered are taken care of by the mail filters I have on my system when I pick up the mail off the server... suck that spammers! |

| ive been using srvx for years. Never had mail issues, or any issues actually. Talking about the mail server IS staying on topic. Someone mentioned that they cant get the mail cookies working, Someone else gave them a response. That did not go off topic. So you should kinda stop jumping to conclusions. |

I don't use SRVX, and here's why (to my knowledge these things are correct, but if they are no longer true, please correct me):
SRVX developers modified the GPL making it non-osi compliant by adding a restriction that any members of the GamesNET staff or any relatives thereof cannot use SRVX. I feel that this is petty and lame.
The public SRVX that is distributed is often a few revisions behind what is actively being developed on and used on the SRVX parent network, GameSURGE.
I don't like the ethos of the SRVX lead developers.
The SRVX lead developers don't like me. |

Just to point out section 6 of the GPL:
| Quote: |
6. Each time you redistribute the Program (or any work based on the Program), the recipient automatically receives a license from the original licensor to copy, distribute or modify the Program subject to these terms and conditions. You may not impose any further restrictions on the recipients' exercise of the rights granted herein. You are not responsible for enforcing compliance by third parties to this License.
|
As you can cleary see, the GPL prevents you from adding additional restrictions so unless they actually have the copyright on the entire code base (i dont know about SRVX's origins), and everyone who has ever submitted code (that is still used) to it has agree'ed to the licence change - they cant just go doing things like that. |

I am well aware of section 6 of the GPL, and looking at the srvx license on the sourceforge cvs (can't seem to get access to arch) I don't see any traces of the modification...
Shrug. The other points I raise are still important. |
