|
|
| Hey, I have been having trouble finding a patch that works with ircu 2.10.12.4. Anyone know of one i can find? i dont want a patched IRCu, cause they add too many lame features. I need 12.04 cause of the pseudo lines for nickserv, chanserv, etc. If anyone knows where I can get one please respond. |

| You could modify the asuka sethost patch (it's for 2.10.11.07). Failing that I might get around to writing some patches for the .12 series at some point. Will have to wait a week or so though, once I get some work deadlines out of the way, and can't promise anything. |

| I've coded for a set of patches for ircu, but not actually ircu itself - if you understand what I'm trying to say. If you're looking to learn, just grab the ircu source from http://coder-com.undernet.org/ and start reading. :) |

| I love it, personally. The main reason due to its stability and ability to handle large user loads - both network and local. Plus there's a brilliant team of developers behind it. |

ircu is simple to setup, and if i'm not mistaken the new version even has a block config.
Personaly i prefer to use ircu with the asuka patches, which can be found on http://dev-com.quakenet.org/ , it has a bit more functionality / options then plain ircu.
overall i prefer ircu over the other ircds i've worked with (Unreal & Quake). it doesn't have all those bells & whistles you don't need, it just has everything needed to run a good network. |

Yeah, although I'm one of those strange people that prefers the old style. :)

Me too, but it's probably easier to start off looking at plain ircu for learning purposes. |

Yep! I refuse to upgrade to the block config. I don't want an IRCd that reminds me of Unreal. |

I hate to tell you, but almost ALL ircd's are starting to use block configs. Hybrid uses it, unreal, now ircu, soon they will all use it. IRCu is great though, thanks you guys for responding, i cant code C to save my life, so hopefully i get something from you guys.

Line configs are too limited for anything past the basics, theyre also not very human-readable. Great for machines to read though. |

Can you give me an example of something line configuration files are too limited for?
This isn't a dig or anything, I really can't think of something that they couldn't be used for (in an IRC sense). |
