For the moment this will be win32 based, but if ur on linux still relevant, whole idea is up for grabs

If you are someone who is having real trouble setting up their ircd, or if your someone who wants to help make a larger irc server rather then just a single main one, then heres an opportunity. I already have my own irc server - in addition i also have set up 2 other irc servers. These irc servers that i made were small, but i wanted to make something maybe a bit bigger, the one im using is hardly used at all. If your feelin the same way, and maybe want to talk about linking servers to make a bigger irc server, feel free to contact. Firstly let me tell you the advantages

Advantages:

1. Other people to help you troubleshoot
2. As servers will be all around the world their will be more support for the server
3. If You already have an existing irc server - ull still be able to keep users/chans but also expand futher

Disadvantages:
1. There may be a bigger workload - depends though
2. More responsibility

So if you feel this is you, or just want to chat about the idea before doing anything, feel free to contact me through msn (onesikgypo@hotmail.com) or through email (same address)

Not looking for critisism of this idea, just trying to reach out to other people who maybe havent thought about this before - or have similar interests to what i do.

Hey this is a great idea Smile

All those little servers networked together, I know, we could call it an 'IRC Network'

Wow.

Maybe we could get someone to write some software that would allow control of the whole network, yanno, a bit like a janitor service in a building. Hey, we could call them 'Services'

This idea just gets better and better.

lol, I was referring to Windows' long standing security track record (or the swiss cheese thereof)... with every successive Windows release, Microsoft touts the "greater security" trumpet, yet said release has more security holes than any previous version

This has all been done years ago, linking a few small networks and all keeping your names and helping each other to grow, but then what happens when it comes to the crunch of each server wanting to go their own way, who's services will you use, what happens if the server hosting the services doesnt give you a copy, it can crash your whole network completely. I am totally against it. We used to have a name for it N.A.T. = Networks Allied Together. Was fun when it lasted. I have a network atm and has avg of 120+ users and on 3x servers one SA and two US, if you are looking to link please feel free to email me at marsupalami@exposed.za.net and send me your proposal.
