|
|
Hello!
I am looking for a web based IRC client. Something I could place on my server's web site so that visitors to the site could connect directly from our site and check us out.
Could folks offer some suggestions, and also maybe any drawbacks you can think of to using a web site placed client to allow folks to connect?
Thanks,
Jonathan |

IMHO, PJIRC is the way to go. http://www.pjirc.com
It's free, quick, and customizable.
The only drawbacks to a java client, is that unless you can sign the applet yourself, you often get a security alert before the java client will open. |

I completely agree PJIRC is the way to go! Its more functional than jPilot and like ed said, its completely FREE and open source. |

Thank you both! I looked at jpilot and a few others last night and wasn't satisfied with them. I just got to look at pjirc for a quick glance this morning, but it looks much more promising.
I appreciate the help! |

| I currently use jirc, but after seeing pjirc I may very well be changing over. It appears to have alot more features than just the plain jirc. |

We had our developers incorporate PHP functions into PJIRC, which allowed us to setup a form to give to webmasters. This way, they can setup a java chat for their own web site, and have it point to their own channel.
PJIRC, once again, is one of the best, and easiest (IMO), java irc clients. |

We have it running on our website
http://www.orbitalfire.net
Click on the side menu option for "Java Chat Client"
You can see how well it works. The new version is VERY IMPRESSIVE.

Depends on what you are refering to. You can change servers within the client just like with any other client using the command - /server blah.blah.blah
If you're talking about changing the default server it connects to you have to change the html |

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I've decided on PJ IRC because of the comprehensiveness of it, and its ease of use. |
