Sorry to bring this threat back up, but I am currently a developer for the ExcursionX mIRC Scripts, we have released a few betas, and we are mainly finishing up the new features, and bug tests, ETA is none as this script has been in development for 2 years+, its a rewrite of the popular Excursion 9.x. Once released it will be ExcursionX or 10(think old numbers). We do have our forums to state our progress on the main site.

This Area is not about Scripts, this is about Clients.
I do hope you know the difference between the two. |

Well, he may or may not have, but thank goodness there are alternative clients out there, that are still in active development.

mirc maybe classic but clients like xchat are always getting updated more than mirc so go figure.

The author was off doing his doctoral thesis (I think, find out on the mirc forums). But now I see his name pop up more in the forums. I think mIRC is in semi-active development, and Khaled did release a version 6.17 a month or two ago.

The only reason why I still like mIRC is because it had its own scripting language which was pretty simple to learn, With Xchat you have to learn perl/tcl scripting which When you learn something already you don't want to try to learn another language when you get to a certain age you want to do what you already know and know will work, Of course thats not always the answer, yeah it'd be nice to learn perl, Or other forms of scripting besides a simple windows IRC client one, Someone wanna take over my brain for a while? ;P

Well I think I made a point didn't I?, Though I really shouldn't post back on that since I don't have anything wise to say, I like gui clients though more customizable things in them but mIRC is good they didn't go for flashy big buttons and all the useless things, and xchat went the complete opposite route.
