IRC networks now have ranking.

Previously, IRC networks only had the current user count to determine their size and rankings.

As of today, all user data is stored and the latest week worth of data taken into account to calculate the network's average user base.

This means that when Undernet has a netsplit, and the robot sees only 20,000 users, Undernet will not suddenly drop out of the "Over 70,000 user" page on the network pages.

This also means SearchIRC now can officially rank networks!

All network pages now have a "Network Rank" link, for example, here is EFnet's: http://searchirc.com/rank/EFnet

Please keep in mind that since this feature was just implemented today (Sunday), that the data will not contain a full week's worth of data. So please give it a week for accurate rankings to settle in.

IRC Images has been removed from the SearchIRC website. It has been so popular we've decided to make a dedicated website for it. You can now visit IRC Images at http://ircimages.com

Please be aware that IRC Images is in development. Over the next week I hope to revamp it so that you may browse ALL IRC channels rather than just the first 10 pages worth.

... also, the "disclamer" is now on a 24 hour cookie, rather than session based, so you don't have to accept the disclamer each time you load up your browser.

Stay tuned for updates!

Still tweaking, but I've just made a major update to IRC Images. You can now browse through ALL recently added channels (added within the last 24 hours). At the time of this writing, there are over 3,000 channels that you can browse through.

The channels are sorted by age, so the end of the list = most recently added.

More IRCImages.com changes.....

- Shockwave listing added (.SWF movies).

- Most viewed page now shows 30 of the most viewed, instead of 20.

- Top of IRCImages now has a navigation bar.

- Each section now has it's own unique text that describes it's purpose.

- Page caching added. Now each page you view will remain that way for 90 seconds before being reloaded. So if you stray away, you can hit the back arrow and get back the page you were originally on, and not a brand new page in it's place.

Just a quick note, the forums are currently set only allow registered users to post. I'm sure everyone will understand why this had to be done.

I keep getting asked how users can add their channel stats to their websites.... until now, I had to tell them that there wasn't any current way to do it.

I now have a page that lets users enter their network/channel and it will give back javascript that you can paste anywhere into any website to get your irc channel stats:

http://searchirc.com/request_channel_stats.php

Let me know if there are any problems.

Channel Directory requests now allow for an 'email' field. If you enter your email address, the second your request is processed, you'll be emailed automatically with either a rejection or approval email.

Note: We do not store the email addresses once processed or sell them .. or do anything else weird to email addresses.

There is no current way to add the whois page onto a remote site.

There are no plans to ever make it available remotely.

But writing a online whois for your network wouldn't be too hard.
