true, thats BS..
but how can you expect them to differ between mIRC and IRC if one of the (former) top25 networks couldnt do that themselves...
that being said, i know of at least one network that called itself "a new server for mIRC"...
and i somewhat bet that there are many more out there that do it the very same way... |

it's most likely done out of ignorance.
Do you think that it's possible that mIRC just happens to be the only client they have heard of? Since there is a trend that appears as "My friend told me I can use mIRC to get movies" and another trend that total newbies can and do set up networks that don't know the first thing about IRC, yet are net admins. Having "mIRC servers" is just one of many side effects from the clueless running IRC servers/nets.
OH!, and just because they are in the top 25 nets means nothing. Having a few thousand warez/xdcc/bottler bots can push you up near the top of the list nowdays.  |

Possible yes, but I really wouldn't trust IRC admins who don't even know that other clients exist! |
