spark57uk,
I have no idea what channel, or even what network you were on when you were banned, but I can tell you that on most networks channel operators have the authority to ban anyone, for any reason, or no reason at all. Apparently you broke a rule in a very busy channel, and you were removed. Normally I would tell you to message a channel operator and politely explain the situation and ask to be allowed back in, but it looks like this particular channel bans new users rather than dealing with their questions. My best advice is to just move on. With 600,000+ channels to select from, you should be able to a channel that welcomes new users.
PS. Since this has nothing to do with the subject of the forum I am moving it to General IRC. |

IRC is not a democracy.
IRC is an oligarchy, or a dictatorship. (depending).
We must live with it or /quit. |

| ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS read the rules when you join a channel for the first time! That's the best way to avoid being banned. The reason many ops are ban-happy is because the rules are usually right there for users to read. However, users seem to think they are there to be ignored. So when it says "Do not msg the ops," and you msg the ops, it tells them you decided reading the rules was unimportant, and rather than deal with the several other times you'll accidentily break the rules, they just ban you. ALWAYS READ THE RULES FIRST! |
