I have to agree...

If you post and just hope for good people who you can trust, you are taking a huge risk.

I would say perhaps this "noobie" needs to make a channel first and gain some ability running a channel before jumping in to a network.

well what network do you guests administer? I would like to see your approach. I would probably guess you don't have one, but in the chance that you do, let me know where it is so I can check it out,

Last I looked, universities were not giving out degrees in IRC administration. Its 100% learn as you go, and no matter what level you are now, I will guarantee you knew nothing when you started. We ALL begin at 0. People who make disparaging comments about others show their own colors. It won't get out of hand. We won't let it. :)

That's good to know, I was begining to get discourged using the forums when this type of negativity was being flaunted. I personally wouldn't take offense if the person shouting at me shown who they are the same as I do, but of course this isn't happening Smile

I can totally relate at knowing 0, I started on IRC 7 years ago and learned as I went, im sure by now there is some sort of degree possible for irc administration though, there is for everything else!

i've been around irc for at least as long as you, but i only got into the managing of my own irc server aspect about two years ago (off and on..., only in the last few months really seriously). its not easy to learn. i ran into a lot of trolls on boards and alot of folks in irc channels just trying to impress their buddies by being sarcastic. so i know how frustrating it can be to get set up.

whenever i sell someone an ircd shell i make sure they know how to set it up, and if they don't i'll usually set it up for them myself at no extra charge. cause hey, it would have been nice if i had a chance to get that sort of help.

Moonman i've been tring to get on your network but haven't been sucessful. Is your network down or is there a DNS problem? irc.Oh-Snap.org doesn't seem to resolve to anything.

although it already seems to be resolving for me again. hopefully it'll be back soon.
