illegal activities
hacking
piracy
warez (no seriously you cant say "this illegal activity is bad but this one is ok")

are you TRYING to get in trouble?

p.s. downloading click.exe and winnuke don't make you a hacker either.

I've told you at least 3 times not to post your network name in the subject (See the forum rules: http://searchirc.com/forum-rules.php), not to mention the content of your posts.

Your IP is now blocked from the site.

It's also a friendly reminder to others :)

The guy was clearly spamming, he didn't even bother to read any of the old posts he made.

No one in their right mind is going to say, "Hey look, this guy is spamming! Lets join his network! 3 cheers for the spammer!"

So I doubt he got much out of his spam.

You'd be surprised how many probably went because of the spam-but seeing his other posts, I expect that if they came on they probably weren't treated too well-they probably kill people for no reason also, I don't see this network as being a stable network being in the top 30 anytime soon Smile

nah... it would be fun to see what that guy made up to convince us to join his network.. actually there are some spammers out on ircs that know what they're doing and never get banned while getting users to join their nets.. however that guy wasnt one of them. :)

Show me where. I akill all spammers with equal prejudice. I don't think its right to use someone elses resources (ie servers paid for by me and my admins) to spam other networks. We akill on sight, and don't allow it in topics either. You want to move your channel, fine, but don't use our resources to advertise it.

We also request if channels moving onto our network spam us, that it be reported. We akill those people also. We don't like being spammed nor do we like to be spammed. Spamming is not the way. We don't want our network spammed anywhere, and spamming of other networks on ours.

Probably why my akill list is 100 entries and growing, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I have to agree that spamming is not a very good way to gain users but as many of the smaller nets some of the users feel free to take it in there own hands and spam in your name "i have had this happen" people visit and then use your hospitality against you, such as giving users email accounts i have found this to be a very bad idea they abuse the account and spam your irc network across the net, thus why i have cancelled all user email accounts besides for mine. its ashame that people do such things just goes to show that it doesnt pay to be nice.
and for the people that just idle on your network just to spam theres i think thats just not right and they deserve to be killed....

U... there are spammers who know how to spam...
what is spam?
it isnt just going to a channel and saying "please join #iigor"
it's just an advertisement that can be done any way. If my net needs an oper who's good with services, ill try to find one and then try to become his friend. I'll tell him about my difficulties and is he agrees - he can come. That's also spam - but its the right spam. :)

Unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups; junk e-mail.

better look up the definition of spam. lets ignore the "email" part for a second, because it CAN be readily applied to other internet applications -- i.e. IRC.

however, the "unsolicited" part is fairly important. pay attention to the other words that appear in bold as well. talking to your friend and seeing if he wants to help in a channel is different than being bombarded with "hai pls join #eke thx!"

"spam" is not synonymous with "advertise" nor does it equate to "asking a friend for help"[/b]
