So, what did everyone think of the olympics this year?
I reckon Athens hosted a pretty great games, but I was so sick of the darn thing after a while!!! I mean, god help those people who are really anti sport, they would've died of complete boredom these past 2 and a bit weeks!!!
I still reckon sydney hosted the best olympics yet! |

The Greeks need to get a life. Stop holding up the Olympic games for some petty political reason. The point of the Olympics is to come together, despite our differences.
I Tivo'ed all of the swimming events, and watched most of them - so far, very very interesting. |

hahahaha, yeah nah I feel the exact same way!!! And what made it even worse was every channel (especially 7) continued to repeat the same events over.....and over........and over.........and.........over!!!!!
How bloody annoying!!!
I mean, I love sport, but man, not 23 hours a day for god's sake!!!!
I never was anti sport..........but man, I am now! |

You have to hand it to the Greeks. Athens was claimed to be the "most secure place on Earth", yet one insane Irishman still got to ruin the last marathon event.
Oh, and a lot of the judging's been appalling this year. I guess that's more likely to be the IOC's fault though.
Overall Athens was a success, but I agree with pretty_in_pink that Sydney was better. |

Yeah I know...that was really frightening!!! The poor runner looked stunned...! Good on him for still getting bronze tho!

It depends on people. Everyone thinks that theire country was best, americans think US was best, aussies think AUS was best, greeks think Greece was best. As a greek i guess i belong on last category.
About the last event on the marathon it could of been anywhere. Is something that you cant prevent it even if you knew about it before, unless you have everyone with theire own private bodyguard. As living in athens i can assure you that i never seen security in all city so tight before, was alot more in the backround that you didnt sen on TV.
As for politics, is politics, they will use anything thats on headlines to make them look better. Its something that will always happen, nothing anyone can do about it. Right now lead parties are fighting eachother about who was responsible for the success of the games. Go figure.. |

For the record, I'm not an aussie.
And the marathon event COULD have been prevented. The police around the runners had ample opportunity to stop the protestor, but did nothing. I'm just glad he managed to get into the medals, the outcome could easily have been much worse. |
