I left for major structures that had covered parking lots, I didn't want my new car scratched :)
I came back last night. This morning I turned on the power and I'm online.
I don't see much damage in my area, just random garbage blown off trees. The wind gusts right now appear to be around 50 mph...
I had a video camera with me, and will post a little video footage from where I stayed all of Sunday. |

Okay, here's a short 30 sec clip.
Before you view it, here's some background.
I'm at the Tampa airport. The top of the short term parking is where I'm filming. We are down wind of a cement wall, some towers, and a Hyatt hotel, so without them the wind would likely be stronger. Oh, and I saw a truck who had their windows rolled down. He's going to have a nasty suprise when he gets back.
In the video, within the first few seconds, you'll see the windows flexing from the gust. Also the sliding glass windows even tho they are shut, locked and have sand bags, have been bent inwards (hard to see in the video though) and are starting to let water in.

the guy behind the camera or other ppl should be telling that kid to get away from the windows, I would have thought in Hurricane situations like this being by glass was dangerous.
Moving on to Hurricane jeannie,
Been having an update from a network owner friend of mine, she lives South Flordia and says its nasty, the worst of it in her area was between midnight and 3am sunday morning, raining hard, wind gusting, alot of rubbish in the streets, tree limbs etc. and alot of damage was done in the north too.
You americans get all the natural disasters, we brits have it easy, without me actually living in america, I cant imagine what it is like for you A/all, what Ive seen on television, is like something scary.
Human life is precious and can never be replaced with loved ones, each hurricane takes its toll, but damage along the way costs $billions to repair and that can be replaced. So please A/all my USA chat friends, please take care of yourselfs and that includes you too Jason and hopefully the hurricane will fade out soon.
Keeping you A/all in my thoughts.

heh. Yet another hurricane.
This one was far worse than the previous 3 in the Tampa area, but it didn't do much damage in this area since it made land fall far enough away. |

Its Hurricane Jean NOT Hurricane jeannie. (slaps the keyboard fairys)
You need to Convert RX-8 to Run on Water too something similar to this,
http://www.watercar.com/
Ideal for Flordia weather conditions.

| If it was a direct hit on clearwater, it would be another story completely. I'm thinking about giving up on the idea of an ocean front house. |
