Ive seen some horrid examples of nets with 30-40 users and 10-15 servers... though, the servers are usually shells or home computers so no wonder they split.
But on a ~2000 users network, its pretty good to have a 5-6 dedicated servers stored in datacenters, as long they are in good datacenters, and are set up properly, there is minimal lag/split/insecurity
all it takes is a little good old "know-how"  |
