I've been running a network (only 2 servers) for over a year and usually only have about 33 users listed in /lusers. I do not want to piss off people by spamming, but it would be nice to attract some decent users. (I dont want warez and what not which started happening til I starting forbidding the channels). I've submitted my network to search irc before and it was never accepted, nor did I get an e-mail as to why it wasnt accepted, but I submitted again today. Right now all I have is a channel for people who like cars run by a friend, a general chat channel, web coding help run by a friend, and a chat for gay people run by another friend.
My site is in google and I've spent a good bit of time working to give my irc network a decent site and am still working on it all. But if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me knpw |

We're in the same category, but we are slowly growing. It seems i've met a fair few people off forums, and our discussions or interests led us to IRC.
We went from starting with a userbase of around 5 for 6 months, up to 15 for 4 months, we've now been stable at around 33 regulars for 1-1.5 months
It's more about friends meeting up than anything else when you start off, so try getting your friends on there. From there, they will attract their friends, etc. IRC is evolutionary, and it takes a while... but you'll get there. |
