small net - small aspirations - lookin to link

ok so i run irc.oh-snap.org and i've been at it for a couple years. i and my two opers know what we're doing, but growth is pretty slow. i dont want to link to a huge warez net just to lord over some users, nor do i want to link to a net with more opers/servers than users. but i'd like to team up with a like-minded group of people to try to bump growth a bit. come visit if it sounds like something you'd be interested in. #mmmbop seems to be the concentration of users, mostly in their later teen years and/or 20 somethings.

ACK!!! I joined your server just to take a look... and was greeted by a bot that said it heard i liked to suck C*** OMG!! Wont get to many links like that will ya?

Was it spam or one of their bots? There is a mIRC virus going around right now that porn spams-but I don't recall it making blatent statements like the one you described Smile

I received the msg too, it was on a channel and the user was a op

I have sure it wasn't a trojan bot, but a normal bot or even a user :S

But maybe it was only one user, there are many others. If anyone is interested in linking, it should give a try.

its just one of the chat channels on the net. one of two, but not our "official" chat channel. its a remote the girl runs as like a private joke among the users of the channel. i dont see it as a big deal, nor do i think i have any right censoring what she wants to say in her channel.

lol Well thank gosh it wasnt a help channel!! hehe I just clicked on the room list and didnt really pay much attention to the room name. I thought it looked like a main room. Guess I was wrong!! And no I agree. If its a registered channel... not much you can do about that. At least it gave me something to laugh at this morning if nothing else.

Good luck. The only time someone will merge is if they retain control and services.

I don't do merges period for this very purpose. Most of them result in a power struggle. You think having one set of staff is bad, try having 2 of them, both trying to push the other down.

yeah i know, thats the reason i wont merge. i have a few loyal users and basically i wont go to a net where one of their nicks is already registered. so its tricky. i wouldnt mind losing"control" otherwise.
