| This post is for anyone who uses Ultimate, version doesn't seem to matter as they all have the same problem. I've been usin Ultimate for a while and like it a lot. In my opinion it's my favorite, but anyways... As many people know, or should know, Ultimate is known for ping timeouts and connection reset by peers. And i just wanted to know if anyone has ever been able to fix it? I've gone thru all posts on shadow-realm's forums, and every one says to change the yline for users, thought it may work, but doesn't. Say the pings are set to 300 instead of 90, then the Timeouts will be 606 seconds instead of 180, there may be less timeouts but more connection reset by peer as the connection is dropped before the timeout happens. Shadow insists that it's the user's connection, bad routing, or just the server's connection when it's not, there's no way that 30 users ping timeout every minute. I'm sure that some of them are due to bad connections and such, but not that many. I've spoken with coders of other IRCd's and they say that it IS the coding of Ultimate. When 2 servers are linked is when the timeouts will occur because of the coding in Ultimate. If anyone has ever been able to fix the problem or have any ideas post it here. |

I really doubt its ultimate, I run it (2.8.7) and dont have ping timeouts every minute...
Ever stopped to think its YOUR connection (the IRC Servers) thats unstable, causing everyone else with decent connections to dropout? |

| Ultimate & Unreal is quite simulair to each other, however Ultimate got easier functions like /addoper , /deloper instead off /addline. |

/addline won't be staying much longer, and seriously, why don't you just start a ssh session and add a new oper?
Or wait a bit longer for the planned web-interface that's been kicked around a few times. |
